Visitor Policy

Interview with PJ, Katherine, Jimmy and Baldy

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
PJ: up to 5 times per week maximum
Katherine: Everyday if you wanted to. Unfortunately i didnt have the privilage of visitors.
Jimmy: once a day twice a week
Baldy: my momz, once a week.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
PJ: yes
Katherine: Yes you had to at least make a 1 week notice a head of time and the time frame you were going to be there, But before they changed all that..It was first come first serve and lines were out the door to only talk for 15 minutes.
Jimmy: dont know they just told me when they were their
Baldy: dont know

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
PJ: sat on either side of partition
Katherine: Dumb. There is no one on one contact or visiting. You get to do it with a phone a camera and a TV monitor and thats it. And half of those didnt even work or they would break down.
Jimmy: talking through a screen isnt really pleasent
Baldy: i was by myself, looking in a monitor at who came to see me and talking on the phone at the same time

Is there a dresscode policy?

i travel 4 states away and i feel that they need to make some type of arrangement for the visit to be longer with the inmate you are coming to see. the procedures are rediculas and the last time i came to visit the monitor they put me on was not working on one side. i could c him but he could not c me. i think they do little things just to b mean asses because they can and they get away with it. i traveled all that way and he could not even c me and thats the hole reasonn i came to help ease his mind. now i understand the inmates got themselves in there but what if the shoe was on the other foot. my brother will not b out of jail or maybe even prison for years to come, so if this is what we have to put up with than they need to get this crap taken care of before these inmates end up hurting themselves because of depression of not being able to interact with their families or hurting another inmate because of anger that stemmed from things of this nature. i miss my brother and i can only hope they begin to fix this problem. and thats what this is. A HUGE AGGERVATION AND SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU FEEL MORE HURT FOR YOUR FAMILY MEMBER THAT IS LOCKED UP!!!!!

I think the current system for setting an appointment is outdated and flawed. I have been calling since 10:00am and it is almost 2:00pm. I either get a busy tone or the phone rings unanswered and disconnects my phone call. Brevard the "space coast", is not taking full use a more efficient and technologically updated system. It's a joke..even though I was born here..I agree this is the come on vacation leave on probation county and this way of making appointments sux!

I do not think the visitation system is positive. IF a loved one is being held, and IF they honestly have 3-5 visits; at least MOMS, WIVES, PARTNERS,CHILDREN should be able to make appointments for those designated dates AT ONE TIME/BY ONE PHONE CALL. Brevard? It would make it easier on the visiting families, less stress on your inmates..and by all means? Prompt

you use to could go and see inmate pretty much anytime, now....you have to call, make the appointment, and then go on the scheduled time. Thats so that if you have a warrant out for your arrest anywheres in the continental U.S. you will be arrested after you sit down to visit your inmate, you will soon be joining them.
I've seen it done..They think they got all the brains...take warning..

I was told there is no list. You give your information the first time you call for an appointment. They ask your full name, your address, I forgot if they ask for phone number, the name of the inmate you want to visit, the relationship to the inmate, and other stuffs I forgot. The inmate can only get a limited number of visits per week.
